Die Dragraces (Beschleunigungsrennen) auf der Quartermile, ca. 400m auf ebener Strecke und die H\u00f6chstgeschwindigkeitsrennen auf den Salzseelandschaften in Muroc, El Mirage und den Salt Lake Flats von Bonneville, USA.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Die schon seit \u00fcber 50 Jahre stattfindende &#8222;<em>Speedweek<\/em>&#8220; in Bonneville hat sich zum gr\u00f6\u00dften Mekka dieser Klientel entwickelt. Hier streben die Fahrer und Konstrukteure einmal im Jahr in einer schier unendlichen Weite nach immer gr\u00f6\u00dferen Geschwindigkeiten. In dieser Zeit platz das kleine St\u00e4dtchen Wendover im Norden Utahs aus allen N\u00e4hten. Etwa 25.000 Rennfans wollen Ende August dabei sein wenn wilde Hot Rods mit 250 oder auch 400 km\/h \u00fcber die frisch pr\u00e4parierte Salzpiste brettern.<\/p>\n<p>Aufgestellt werden die Rekorde in \u00fcber 100 Motorrad- und Wagenklassen. Vom ambitionierten Familienvater bis zum Profi-Rennfahrer mit Millionenbudget ist alles dabei. Dabei erreichen Hot Rods Geschwindigkeiten bis zu 400 km\/h und die ultraflachen Streamliner bis zu 600 km\/h auf der recht holprigen Salzpiste.<\/p>\n<p>Damit alles seine Ordnung hat wacht die &#8222;<em>National Hot Rod Association<\/em>&#8220;\u00a0 (NHRA) \u00fcber das Treiben in der Salzw\u00fcste. Denn auch hier gilt es jede Menge Regeln und Regularien einzuhalten, die auch den Umweltschutz der Region mit einbeziehen.<\/p>\n<p>Bei uns werden die wenigsten Hot Rods an solchen Wettbewerben teilnehmen. Sie beschr\u00e4nken sich meist auf Demorennen auf diversen Veranstaltungen in Good `ol Germany.
